This page explains how Quidoku and this informational website handle information, including local saves, iCloud sync, and product analytics.

Last updated: October 31, 2026

Local saves and preferences

The app stores puzzles, candidate notes, undo history, drawings, results, learning progress, and your language, theme, sound and assistance preferences on your device so you can resume play and keep your choices.

The app requires no separate account, includes no advertising, and does not perform advertising tracking.

Local interaction records

New installations record game interactions on the device by default for local interaction analysis. Records may include actions, timestamps, temporary session and game identifiers, rows, columns and digits, game mode, difficulty, language, and control bounds.

These records do not contain complete boards, solutions, your Apple Account or a permanent device identifier. They are not automatically uploaded, included in iCloud progress sync or included in device backups. The developer does not retrieve these files remotely through the app.

The current app has no separate user-facing switch or cleanup control for these records and does not automatically clear them on a schedule. They remain in local app data and can be removed by uninstalling the app.

Detailed local records are separate from the product analytics described below. Product analytics sends selected events and action counts, not these detailed log files.

iCloud progress sync

iCloud sync is enabled by default and can be turned off in Settings. When available, the app uses an Apple CloudKit private database to sync puzzles, library progress, results, lessons and drawings between devices using the same Apple Account. Language, theme, sound and assistance preferences remain local.

The app continues saving locally when offline or when iCloud is unavailable. Turning sync off preserves local and cloud saves; it does not delete cloud data. Apple provides iCloud, and its availability and handling of information are governed by Apple’s service and privacy rules.

Camera, photos and sharing

The app requests camera permission only when you choose to import a puzzle by taking a photo. You can also choose an image from your photo library. Sudoku image recognition runs on your device without uploading the image to a recognition server. You must review the recognized board before proceeding.

When using the system share sheet, you choose the recipient and service. Puzzle codes reproduce the puzzle and do not contain your answers or game progress. Other content you choose to share is handled by the service you select.

Product analytics

The app uses PostHog to understand feature usage, puzzle completion, and use of solving tools. Product analytics is enabled by default in production releases with valid project configuration. The current app has no separate in-app product analytics switch.

Information sent includes a random installation identifier, session and game identifiers, mode, difficulty, input method, elapsed time, fill progress, mistake and hint counts, tool usage counts, hint techniques, app version, and build number. The random identifier links events from the same installation and is not linked to your Apple Account identity.

Complete boards, solutions, specific entered digits or cell positions, puzzle codes, touch locations, detailed local interaction logs, and photos are not uploaded. Automatic screen and click capture, session recording, and advertising identifier collection are not enabled.

The app currently uses the PostHog US service (us.i.posthog.com). Events already queued while offline are stored on the device and retried when a connection is available. The service processes the source IP of network requests. GeoIP is disabled in the app, which does not prevent the network service from receiving an IP address.

Product analytics data remains in the configured PostHog project. Uninstalling the app does not automatically remove data already sent. For questions or deletion requests, use the contact email on this page.

Manage and delete data

You can turn off iCloud sync in the app and manage camera permission in iOS Settings. Uninstalling the app removes its data from the device. Local saves may also be affected by system backup and restore features you use.

Uninstalling the app or turning sync off does not automatically delete existing iCloud saves. To manage or delete cloud data, use Apple’s iCloud storage management features. Available options depend on what is shown for your device and account.
